About Sylvia

Born to Swiss-Brazilian parents, Sylvia grew up bi-lingual in English/Portuguese, speaks five languages and has lived in three countries. She trained in acting and improvisation in Minneapolis, Chicago, New York and London.

An actress, writer, comedian, singer, pianist and impressionist, she began writing her own 2-hour comedy/variety solo shows and sketch revues in Zurich, Switzerland for the large expat audience and performed in some of the city’s best known venues including Kaufleuten and the historic Cabaret Voltaire. The shows were consistently sold-out and brought comic relief to an international community that was missing humor in English.

In 2015 Sylvia took her solo show “50 Shades of DAY!” Off-Broadway
in the United Solo Festival at Theatre Row, and in 2016 her political comedy "50 Shades of (Election) DAY!" premiered in Zurich and was covered by Switzerland's national news channel SRF1.

In 2019 she moved to Sarasota where she understudied the role of Mrs. Lovett in SWEENEY TODD at the renowned Asolo Repertory Theatre, going on to perform the role five times. She is also an actor, improviser and sketch writer with Florida Studio Theatre where she performed in OUT OF BOUNDS, I LOVE DONNA BEST, and BARKS AND PURRS.

In 2020 when COVID-19 caused theatres everywhere to close, Sylvia started her own online show SYLVIA DAY LIVE (SDL) which airs Fridays
on Facebook Live at 6 pm ET. Each week she premieres a brand new song parody which she performs as a celebrity "Guest Host", followed by live improvised Q&A with viewers. Sylvia also performs and guest hosts Saturdays with FST Improv's Radio Call-in Show on Instagram Live at 7 pm ET.
