Born in the US to Swiss-Brazilian parents, Sylvia grew up bi-lingual in English/Portuguese, speaks five languages and has lived in three countries. She trained in acting and improvisation in Minneapolis, Chicago, New York and London.
An AEA actor, Sylvia is also an award-winning comedian, writer, lyricist, singer, pianist, impressionist, director and producer. She began creating her own comedy/variety solo shows and sketch revues in Zurich, Switzerland which quickly grew and were consistently sold out. She performed in some of the city’s best known venues including Kaufleuten and the historic Cabaret Voltaire and her audience has included world-class opera stars, Olympic gold medalists, and royalty.
In 2015 Sylvia took her solo show “50 Shades of DAY!” Off-Broadway in the United Solo Festival at Theatre Row, and in 2016 her political comedy "50 Shades of (Election) DAY!" premiered in Zurich and was covered by Switzerland's national news channel SRF1. Her political song parody "Vote" (after Madonna's "Vogue") was shared and retweeted by thousands, including Debra Messing who tweeted "Fantastic! Everyone should watch this!"
In 2019 she began dividing her time between Europe and the US. In May 2019 she understudied and performed at the renowned Asolo Repertory Theatre in SWEENEY TODD as Mrs. Lovett among understudying leading roles in CABARET, GRAND HORIZONS, SWEAT, and. A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2.
In 2020 when COVID-19 caused theatres everywhere to close, Sylvia started her own online show SYLVIA DAY LIVE (SDL) which airs select Fridays on Facebook Live at 6 pm ET. In October 2021 she premiered her latest solo piece SEND IN THE CLONES at the SaraSolo Festival to a sold-out crowd and rave reviews.
Giving back, Sylvia works as a Cause Ambassador for Women's Brain Project, a Swiss-based international non-profit organization focused on sex and gender determinants of brain and mental health as a gateway to precision medicine, and has performed at and facilitated several of their events.
